Breath-Linked Movement in the Himalayas

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Experience the meditative flow of Vinyasa yoga. Creative sequences linking breath and movement, adaptable to all levels, with Annapurna as your backdrop.

What Is Vinyasa Yoga?

Vinyasa means "to place in a special way" - each movement linked to breath, flowing from one pose to the next with intention. Unlike fixed sequences, Vinyasa classes are creative and varied, with each session offering something new.

The continuous flow creates a moving meditation. As you synchronize breath and movement, the busy mind quiets. You enter a state of focused presence where there's no room for distraction - just the next breath, the next movement.

Our Vinyasa classes balance challenge with accessibility. While flowing styles can be intimidating, our teachers offer modifications that allow everyone to participate. You'll build strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness while cultivating mindful awareness.

Preparing for Vinyasa Flow

Hydration

Vinyasa builds heat and you will sweat. Drink water before class and bring water for after. Avoid drinking large amounts during practice - it cools the fire you're building.

Food Timing

Light meal 2+ hours before class. Vinyasa includes twists, core work, and inversions that are uncomfortable with full stomach. Empty stomach allows deeper practice.

Breathable Clothing

You will generate heat. Wear moisture-wicking, breathable clothing that allows movement and helps regulate temperature. Layers you can remove as you warm up.

Arrival Time

Come 5-10 minutes early to settle in. Rushing into Vinyasa makes it hard to find the flow state. Give yourself time to transition into practice mode.

Non-Competitive Mindset

Vinyasa can trigger comparison. Remember: it's your practice, your breath, your flow. Work at your edge, not someone else's. Quality over complexity.

Our Vinyasa Approach from Himalayan Tradition

Creative Sequences

No two classes are the same. Our teachers design flows that explore different themes - hip opening, backbends, balance, strength, twists - keeping practice fresh and engaging while respecting tradition.

Breath-Centered

Every movement is linked to breath. This isn't just timing - it's using breath to move deeper into poses and maintain meditative focus throughout. The breath leads, the body follows.

All Levels Welcome

Modifications offered for every pose. Beginners flow at their pace with simpler variations, experienced practitioners can take advanced expressions. Same class, individualized practice.

Mountain Setting

Flow practice with the Annapurna range visible through our windows. The natural beauty and stillness of the Himalayas supports the meditative quality of Vinyasa flow.

Building Heat Safely

Vinyasa builds internal heat through movement. We teach you to build sustainable warmth that serves your practice, not excessive heat that drains energy. Proper preparation before, integration after.

Class FAQs

The intensity varies by teacher and class. Our Vinyasa classes are accessible to all levels - we offer modifications so beginners can flow alongside experienced practitioners. You control your intensity by choosing how deeply to go into each pose and how many vinyasas to take.
Vinyasa links poses in continuous flow with breath, creating heat and cardiovascular engagement. Hatha holds poses longer with more emphasis on alignment and stillness. Both are valuable. Many practitioners combine them - Hatha for foundation and alignment, Vinyasa for fitness and flow state.
Yes! Fitness builds through practice. Start with our all-levels Vinyasa, use the modifications offered, and rest when needed. Vinyasa actually builds cardiovascular fitness quickly. Consistency matters more than starting fitness level.
Expect to move continuously for 75 minutes with breath-linked transitions. Classes include sun salutations, standing flows, floor work, backbends, twists, and final relaxation. You'll sweat, breathe deeply, and likely feel energized and centered afterward.
Vinyasa has a rhythm, not a speed requirement. The flow is breath-paced - if you're breathing smoothly and mindfully, you're doing it right. We teach you to modify poses, take extra breaths, or rest when needed. Your flow, your pace.
Vinyasa can burn 400-600 calories per hour depending on intensity and your body weight. However, we encourage focusing on the practice itself rather than calorie burning. The benefits - strength, flexibility, stress reduction, mental clarity - go far beyond calories.
It depends on the injury. Inform your teacher before class. Many injuries can be accommodated with modifications, but some acute injuries may be better served by gentler styles like Hatha or Yin until healed. We can help you choose the right practice.
2-3 times per week is ideal for most practitioners. Daily practice is excellent if you can manage it, but listen to your body - Vinyasa builds heat and requires recovery. Many students balance Vinyasa with gentler Hatha or Yin practice.
