Beginner Yoga Classes

Never done yoga? No problem. Our beginner classes are designed for those new to the practice, with patient instruction, clear explanations, and a welcoming environment.

Yoga for Complete Beginners

Starting something new can feel intimidating, especially when you see experienced yogis bending into impressive shapes. Our beginner classes remove that pressure entirely. Every student in the room is new to yoga, and our instructors specialize in building foundations from the ground up.

Unlike drop-in classes where beginners try to keep up with experienced practitioners, our beginner program moves at your pace. We teach proper alignment from the start - not to limit you, but so you build habits that will serve your practice for years to come.

The Himalayan setting adds something special to learning yoga. There's a natural calm here that urban studios simply cannot replicate. Many beginners find they progress faster in this environment, free from the distractions and pace of city life.

After building your foundation in beginner classes, you might consider our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program to deepen your practice. For a different pace, try our evening yoga classes to unwind at sunset.

What You'll Learn

1

Foundation Poses

Learn the essential postures - standing, seated, and lying down. Focus on alignment and awareness rather than flexibility.

2

Breath Basics

Discover how breath connects to movement. Learn simple pranayama techniques that calm the mind and energize the body.

3

Body Awareness

Develop proprioception - understanding where your body is in space. This awareness prevents injury and deepens practice.

4

Relaxation

Learn true relaxation through yoga nidra and guided shavasana. Many students find this the most transformative part.

Why Our Beginner Classes Work

Really nice spot to stay some days in Pokhara in between trekkings. Lovely yoga classes from Deepika 2 times a day. Oasis of peace with little garden in the center of Pokhara near the lakeside.

Class FAQs

Absolutely! Yoga builds flexibility - you don't need it to start. Our beginner classes meet you where you are. Every pose has modifications for different bodies.
Comfortable clothing that allows movement - nothing fancy required. Yoga pants or shorts, t-shirt or tank top. We practice barefoot. We provide mats and props.
This varies by individual, but most students feel ready for all-levels classes after 5-10 beginner sessions. We'll let you know when you're ready to progress.
We teach yoga as a practical discipline for health and awareness. There's no required religious element. Sanskrit terms are explained in context - we teach the practice, not beliefs.
Every pose has modifications. If something doesn't work for your body, we offer alternatives. "Not being able" to do a pose is often just "not being able to do it yet."
