What Is Yoga Alliance Certification?

Yoga Alliance is the largest nonprofit representing the yoga community worldwide. Their standards ensure yoga teachers meet minimum competency requirements in asana, anatomy, philosophy, and teaching methodology. Schools meeting these standards register as RYS (Registered Yoga School).

We are registered as both RYS 200 and RYS 300, meaning our 200-hour and 300-hour programs meet Yoga Alliance standards. Graduates can apply for RYT 200 or RYT 500 credentials, recognized by yoga studios, gyms, and retreat centers globally.

While certification doesn't guarantee teaching ability - that comes from practice and experience - it opens doors. Many employers require Yoga Alliance credentials. Insurance providers often need it. It's the baseline that enables your teaching career.

Earn your Yoga Alliance certification through our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. Want deeper traditional knowledge? Explore our philosophy training.

RYS-Hour YTT FAQs

Legally, no - yoga teaching is unregulated in most countries. Practically, many studios, gyms, and retreat centers require it. Insurance providers often need it. It's the industry standard.
We provide your completion certificate and documentation. You create a Yoga Alliance account, submit documents, and pay their registration fee (~$65-80). Process takes about a week.
If you plan to teach professionally, yes. It opens doors that would otherwise be closed. The annual membership ($65-80) is tax-deductible for yoga teachers and provides directory listing plus resources.
Yoga Alliance is the most widely recognized, but not the only option. Some studios prefer specific lineage certifications. Our training also includes our school certification, which some employers accept independently.
Certification ensures minimum competency - it's the floor, not the ceiling. Good teaching comes from practice, feedback, and experience. Certification opens doors; your growth as a teacher determines what you do with that opportunity.
