Poon Hill Yoga Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill route is one of the most accessible trails in the Annapurna region. It is a real Himalayan trek with no technical climbing and no serious altitude, so it is a good fit if you want to walk in the mountains without committing to a long, high expedition.

About the Poon Hill Yoga Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill route is one of the most accessible trails in the Annapurna region. It is a real Himalayan trek with no technical climbing and no serious altitude, so it is a good fit if you want to walk in the mountains without committing to a long, high expedition.

Over six days you pass through rhododendron and oak forest, sleep in village teahouses, and climb before dawn to the Poon Hill viewpoint at 3,210 m for sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

A short yoga and meditation session opens each morning before you walk, and a quieter practice closes the day at the teahouse. Sessions happen at lodges and viewpoints rather than in a studio, so expect a simple, practical practice rather than a fixed advanced sequence.

This is one of our two yoga treks from Pokhara. If you are weighing it against the Mardi Himal Yoga Trek, see the side-by-side comparison on the yoga trek overview. To prepare your body first, try our yoga for trekkers classes.

Really nice spot to stay some days in Pokhara in between trekkings. Lovely yoga classes from Deepika 2 times a day. Oasis of peace with little garden in the center of Pokhara near the lakeside.

Poon Hill Yoga Trek FAQs

The trek is graded moderate. You will walk roughly 4 to 6 hours on most days, including a long stretch of stone steps near Ulleri. You do not need trekking experience, but being comfortable with a few hours of walking and some uphill helps. If you have a health condition that affects walking or altitude, check with your doctor before booking.
No. Sessions are adapted to who is in the group and beginners are welcome. The practice is short and practical rather than a fixed advanced sequence.
The route stays below 3,300 m, so altitude sickness is uncommon. Some people still feel mild effects of the elevation. The pace is relaxed, which helps.
October to November and March to April usually have the clearest skies. The monsoon months of June to August are green and quiet but often cloudy, so mountain views are less reliable. The trail is walkable year-round.
One hotel night in Pokhara at the start and end, and teahouse (lodge) stays on trekking days, on a sharing basis. Teahouses are simple, with a basic room and shared facilities, and there are plenty of them along this trail.
