Poon Hill & Mardi Himal, Yoga on the Trail

Yoga Trek in Nepal

Combine daily Himalayan yoga and meditation with a real Annapurna trek. Walk through rhododendron forest to a sunrise viewpoint, practise at the teahouse each evening, and let the mountains do what no studio can. All-inclusive from Pokhara.

Yoga Trekking in the Annapurna Himalayas

A yoga trek is not an ordinary trek with a yoga label bolted on. Each day of walking is paired with a morning and evening practice of yoga, meditation and mantra, led by an instructor who treks with the group. A typical day opens with a short session before breakfast, followed by a few hours on the trail, and closes with guided meditation at the teahouse before dinner.

We run two yoga treks from Pokhara, both in the Annapurna region. The Poon Hill Yoga Trek is the gentler option and a good first Himalayan trek. The Mardi Himal Yoga Trek is quieter, longer and higher. Both are taught by our Indian Himalayan ashram-trained instructors and are fully inclusive, covering permits, teahouse lodging, meals, guide and transfers.

If you would rather stay in one place, see our yoga retreats in Pokhara, or prepare your body first with yoga for trekkers. To understand why these mountains matter for practice, read about Himalayan yoga in Nepal.

Really nice spot to stay some days in Pokhara in between trekkings. Lovely yoga classes from Deepika 2 times a day. Oasis of peace with little garden in the center of Pokhara near the lakeside.

Yoga Trek FAQs

Poon Hill is the shorter and gentler of the two: 6 days, a highest point of 3,210 m, and a well-developed teahouse trail, which makes it a great first Himalayan trek. Mardi Himal is 7 days, quieter, and higher, reaching around 4,200 m, so it suits you if you do not mind a little more altitude and cold for fewer crowds. Both pair daily yoga and meditation with the walking.
No yoga experience is needed, as sessions are adapted to the group and beginners are welcome. Both treks are graded moderate; you should be comfortable walking several hours a day, but no technical skills are required. Poon Hill is fine for a first trek, while some prior walking experience helps on Mardi Himal because of the altitude.
Pokhara airport or bus station transfers, a hotel in Pokhara on the first and last nights, teahouse accommodation and three meals a day on trekking days, all trekking permits (ACAP and TIMS), daily yoga and meditation sessions with an instructor, and a first-aid kit. Not included: international flights, Nepal visa, travel insurance, porter service, and tips.
October to November and March to April usually have the clearest skies and most stable weather. The monsoon months of June to August are green and quiet but often cloudy. Poon Hill is walkable year-round; Mardi Himal is harder in winter, when the high camps can be cold or snowbound.
Yes. Your trek includes a licensed guide and all required permits and entry fees, so you do not need to organise anything on the trekking side. A porter is not included but can be arranged for around €16 per day.
